About the Therapist

My name is Diana Samuels and I am a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Play Therapist, and Social Worker for South Hertfordshire.  

 

I am a full member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP), registered in the College of Child Psychotherapy.

 

In private practice I am able to combine my skills and experience to offer an assessment and together with families work out the most helpful way forward, whether it be one to one work with a family member, working with the whole family or helping to find another professional who may be better placed to help.

  • Child and adolescent psychotherapist for a voluntary agency in South Hertfordshire

  • Psychotherapeutic Consultant to staff in Children's Residential Homes, Hertfordshire

Additionally, I have led groups for adolescents and run workshops for social workers, teachers, foster carers, birth parents and adoptive parents on subjects including ‘The Importance of Play’, ‘What is Play Therapy’ and ‘Sand Play’. Additionally, I have offered regular consultations to family support workers, teachers and social workers. 

 

My work integrates creative techniques, (such as art and play), with talking therapy, as appropriate for each client.

Each and every person I work with is different. I recognize this in my work and so each intervention I offer is tailor-made, specific for that young person and family.
